About Specific Gravity Cups
Specific Gravity Cups
Caltech India offers Specific Gravity Cups / Density Gravity Cups. The Density of a coating should remain constant from batch to batch. Also known as Density Gravity Cups. Specific Gravity Cups are used to determine the specific weight per unit volume of a liquid at a given temperature.
A stainless steel or anodized aluminum precision instrument for determining the specific weight of paints and similar products. A tolerance of 0.1% is guaranteed. Testing is carried out in accordance with ISO at 232
This instrument consists of a cylindrical container and cover with a hole for exhaust of excess liquid for any excess Paint or Ink to be removed when the cup cover is pressing tightly. By doing so, will also ensure that no air bubbles or pockets of air are being trapped.
It is in according with DIN 53217,ISO 2811,and BS 3900 A19.
Precision Measurement for Quality ControlThese specific gravity cups offer laboratory-grade precision with a measurement range of 0.7 to 2.2 g/cm and a fine resolution of 0.01 g/cm. The perforated lid design effectively prevents air entrapment, ensuring highly accurate results during gravimetric analysis. With accuracy up to 0.01 g/cm, they make reliable tools for quality assurance in paints, inks, and coatings.
Durable, User-Friendly ConstructionManufactured using corrosion-resistant aluminium or stainless steel, each cup features a smooth internal finish for simple, thorough cleaning. Available in several capacities to match your requirements, these cups are lightweight (approx. 90 grams, material-dependent) and robust enough for repeated laboratory or industrial use, standing up to frequent handling and washing.
Versatile Application Across IndustriesSuitable for gravimetric analysis, these cups are widely utilized by dealers, manufacturers, exporters, distributors, and service providers in India. Their versatility covers a broad temperature range (15C35C) and multiple laboratory capacities (50 ml up to 200 ml), supporting varied testing protocols in paints, inks, and coating industries.
FAQs of Specific Gravity Cups:
Q: How do I use a specific gravity cup for measuring the density of paints or inks?
A: To use the specific gravity cup, first ensure it is clean and dry. Weigh the empty cup with its perforated lid. Fill the cup completely with the paint or ink sample, place the lid to allow excess material and air bubbles to escape, clean any spillage, and weigh again. The difference between the two weights divided by the cups volume gives the materials specific gravity.
Q: What are the benefits of using a perforated lid on the gravity cup?
A: The perforated lid ensures that excess material and trapped air bubbles escape when closing the cup. This design feature helps you achieve greater measurement accuracy by preventing air pockets that could otherwise alter the weight and skew specific gravity calculations.
Q: When should I calibrate or check the accuracy of my specific gravity cup?
A: It is recommended to check the cups accuracy periodically, especially before critical measurements or after repeated use. Calibration can be verified with reference liquids of known density within the recommended measuring range (0.7 to 2.2 g/cm).
Q: What is the process for cleaning the specific gravity cup after use?
A: After each measurement, simply rinse the cup and perforated lid thoroughly with a suitable solvent compatible with your sample (water or appropriate cleaning agent). Use a soft cloth to wipe off any residues and make sure the cup is dried completely before the next use.
Q: Where can specific gravity cups be utilized for optimal results?
A: Specific gravity cups are primarily used in laboratories, quality control departments, and manufacturing facilities involved in producing or testing paints, coatings, and inks. Their design is suited for both industrial and research environments in India and abroad.
Q: What capacities are available for these specific gravity cups?
A: These cups are available in standard capacities including 50 ml, 100 ml, 150 ml, and 200 ml. Custom sizes can also be specified to suit different sample volume requirements.
Q: Who are the typical users or suppliers of specific gravity measurement cups?
A: Users include dealers, distributors, exporters, importers, manufacturers, producers, and service providers associated with quality control and analytical testing of liquid products in industries such as paint, ink, and coating application.
